The Harry Chapin Tribute Concert was held on what would have been Harry's 45th birthday on December 7, 1987 at Carnegie Hall in honor of Harry being awarded the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal. This concert was filmed for later broadcast as a A Tribute to Harry Chapin on local PBS stations in 1991. A Harry Chapin Tribute album was released in 1990 featuring many of the performances from the concert. Cartoonist Gary Trudeau also produced a promotional poster for this benefit concert.
