The 1990 Harry Chapin Tribute release features music from the Harry Chapin Tribute Concert on December 7, 1987 at Carnegie Hall in honor of Harry being awarded the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal. The CD and cassette both came with liner notes that included an essay by Charles Sanders who was instrumental in organizing the concert.

Pat Benatar's version of "Shooting Star" was included on her 1999 CD release, Synchronistic Wanderings. Judy Collins also released a different version of Cat's in the Cradle.
