Flowers are Red

This song has taken on a life of it's own as many have sighted this is representing what's wrong with the education system in the U.S.  Susan Gensel's son was the motivation for the song Flowers are Red. Susan worked in the office that managed Harry's affairs.

Harry performed Flowers are Red with John Davidson singing the Chorus on the Tonight Show.  Tom Chapin frequently performs this song in his  concerts.

One interesting link is to Safety Harbor Middle School teacher who uses this song in his multimedia classroom. This song seems to creep up in discussion about what wrong with our school systems. For a mention in Salon Magazine, click here. Children and Creative Resources also comments about the song.

Peter Steward comments on this song at his web site.

This song was released as a single in 1978. The B side of the single was Jenny.

On the CD "Pas Op De Plaats", Gerard van Maasakkers performs Flowers are Red in Dutch,  "Bloemen Zijn Rood". This was mentioned on Yahoo!Groups in January 2002.
