Dogtown

From the Heads and Tales songbook for the album, Harry writes, "Dogtown is and was a real place. Now all that is left are a few granite ruins of an old settlement, but it used to be a thriving whaling town, that got the nickname Dogtown because most of the time the men were away on voyages and all that lived there were women and dogs. It's really a song about what loneliness, and that unstoppable urge towards life and feeling can drive you to."

This song was the subject of some discussion at eGroups in December 2001. more>> & even more>>

Personal Note: I believe I saw somewhere that this song disgusted Sandy, Harry's widow. It's no wonder.
