Cat's in the CradleThis Harry Chapin song originally appeared on Verities and Balderdash. In December of 1974 this song became Harry's only number 1 hit. Harry was nominated for a Grammy in 1974 for Best Male Performance. This song attracts the attention of many, including cat enthusiasts, such as Kitty Cat Fur Balls. On a more serious note, are Peter Steward's observations about this song. And now for the tacky... there is a cartoon-like flash video parody making it's way around the internet, entitled Cat's in the Kettle about lunch at a Chinese restaurant. The lyrics (along with the chords) are also available http://www.dougshome.com/music/Songs/catskettle.htm. Another parody by Bill Tong focusing on George W. Bush is entitled Bush Brat is Unable. He also has a political parody based on W*O*L*D. Cat's in the Cradle was used in a powerful public service announcement against child abuse commercial. It was viewable at adcritic for a while, but this site was down the last time I checked. This song was released as a single in 1974. The B side of the single was What Made America Famous.
