Jen ChapinJen Chapin is Harry Chapin's daughter. She has created a musical career in her own right.
A portion of the proceeds from this album go to World Hunger Year. The CD is also being played on the in-flight entertainment on United Airlines this month (March 2004).
Jen's interests extend beyond her music career. She chairs World Hunger Year (WHY). WHY is a hunger advocacy that focuses on grass roots community-oriented solutions that focus heavily on self reliance, founded by Harry Chapin and Bill Ayres. WHY also recognizes those in the media that highlight hunger and poverty issues through the Happy Chapin Media Awards. Her other releases include the self-titled Jen Chapin, Live at the Bitter End, Open Wide, and MbM (an EP). Jen's song Gold was included in a project featuring 15 different NYC area artists known as Brooklyn Above Ground. They released a compilation CD titled BAG 1. All the proceeds from this CD go directly to World Hunger Year. One of Jen's earlier projects was a Germany-based group known as en why sea (Note the play on words with NYC). Their web site www.enwhysea.com provides more information about this now-defunct group. Harry's song Jenny is about her. Web Sites |
