Harry signs with Boardwalk Records after 10 albums with Elektra and releases Sequel, which will be his last album. The ABC made-for-TV movie Mother and Daughter: The Loving War premieres with songs and musical score by Harry and Sandy.

  • 21 - Harry performed a solo concert at the 1980 Olympic Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York[1] In Sports Illustrated E. M Swift noted that gold medal speed skater Eric Heiden's favorite experiences were the "Harry Chapin concert at the Olympic Village and his two pieces of raisin bread each morning"

  • 21 - Harry performs with Arlo Guthrie at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in the first performance of a two night engagement.[4]
  • 22 - Harry performs with Arlo Guthrie at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in the second performance of a two night engagement.[4]

November

  • 26 - Embassy Theater in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. After the concert Harry and Steve were stopped for speeding and played an impromptu version of Cat's in the Cradle for the officer. [5]
